Frequently Asked Questions
Useful guidance for identifying the correct hose and understanding the information shown in the selector.
What is the difference between a wrapped and ground hose?
The exterior finish describes the outside surface of the hose. A ground hose has its outside surface mechanically ground to achieve a controlled external diameter. A wrapped hose retains its wrapped manufacturing finish. The correct finish depends on the pump design, so use the finish listed for the selected pump and hose.
What is a stepped hose?
A stepped hose has a deliberate change in diameter at the end of the hose to suit a particular pump or connection. Step Type identifies whether the step is internal or external, while Step ID records the relevant internal diameter. If the hose is not stepped, these fields are shown as N/A.
What do the hose colour codes mean?
The coloured stripe helps identify the hose material: Natural and food-grade Natural use white; Nitrile and food-grade Nitrile use yellow; EPDM uses red; CSM uses blue; and FKM uses purple. Always confirm the part number and material rather than relying on colour alone.
How do I know which hose material is chemically compatible?
Chemical suitability depends on the media, concentration, temperature, pressure and operating conditions. The selector helps identify hoses that physically fit the pump, but material suitability should also be confirmed. See our chemical resistance chart or contact our technical team if you are unsure.
Why does the selector show lubricant type and amount?
The pump design determines the lubricant type and the casing determines the quantity required. The selector displays the lubricant information held against the pump range and provides a link to the relevant lubricant page so it can be ordered alongside the hose.
Where can I find spare parts for my pump?
Each hose result includes a View Spares link. This opens the Enviroflex peristaltic spares page already filtered for the relevant pump brand, making it easier to find compatible shoes, rollers, seals and other service parts.
What if I only know the OEM part number?
Use the part number search without choosing any other filters. It checks both the Enviroflex part number and the recorded OEM part number and returns the matching hose records.
What if I am unsure about some of the hose details?
Leave those fields as Unsure / Any. The selector ignores unknown criteria and continues narrowing the database using only the information you do know.
What if I cannot find my hose?
Contact us with the pump make and model, any part number you have, or the hose dimensions. Enviroflex can also manufacture bespoke hose where a standard replacement is not listed.
Compatibility note: OEM names and part numbers are used for identification and compatibility reference. Confirm chemical suitability and operating conditions before ordering.
